My philosophy in building businesses is fairly simple.
The only reason I've succeeded in building 2 businesses is because I focus on people. Whether it be the staff and keeping them happy or the customers and keeping them happy, people are the key to success. You need to understand why they do the things they do, buy the things they buy, ask the questions they ask, and when you do, you will be able to sell to them, work with them, and even learn from them.
It is the slower approach to success. Understanding people takes time, but once you have a good grasp of it, it will lead you to success and you will no longer be seen as a mere manager, but a leader.
This method of building startups has proven to be very successful for me is the core reason I am able to build 2 startups in e-commerce and fin-tech industries. It is also the only reason I have successfully managed over 100 people with a minimal turnover of staff and driven the company to its goals.
